Grocery Shopping in Downtown is now easier with new delivery services and local grocer specials.
There is a common misconception that there are no grocery options downtown. And although there is no major chain near the river, there are locally owned grocers and shops for you to get all your shopping done without driving!
City Market (66 S. Main Street), located at the corner of Main and Union, is a popular option for Downtowners. It offers a full range of products from clean cut deli meats from Boars Head Deli, to farm fresh produce. It offers affordablity and convienience to all customers as it is located in the heart of Downtown Memphis.
Miss Cordelia's Grocery
Miss Cordelia's (737 Harbor Bend) is another locally owned grocery in the Downtown area. It was started because Harbor Town's owner wanted a place to buy fresh fruits and vegitables in a convenient location for Harbortown residents to gather and enjoy themsleves. Miss Cordelia's Deli offers a large selection of paninis pressed sandwiches, and other hot and cold sandwiches throughout the day. Their desserts are also widely praised so if you have a chance to stop by, it is certainly worth your while.
Inside the market, you can grab a meal at Miss Cordelia’s Café, a cozy spot to enjoy a cup of locally roasted coffee, have a freshly prepared meal, or indulge with a sweet treat!
In addition to the soups, salads, sandwiches and baked goods, you'll find a full case of prepared foods that can be enjoyed in the cafe or to go. Entrees including grilled salmon, pork tenderloin, or meatloaf pair perfectly with healthy sides like quinoa salad or grilled asparagus. The options include both comfort foods and healthy, seasonal veggies. Comforting, too, is the knowledge that these thoughtful dishes are prepared from scratch daily with as many locally sourced ingredients as possible.
Memphis Farmer's Market
The Memphis Farmers Market is a weekly, non-profit outdoor marketplace featuring local farmers and artisans.
The market showcases locally sourced produce and food items, as well as locally produced kitchen and garden arts and crafts from the Mid-South region. The market is a producer-only market, and it does not allow resale of any items.
The farmer's market is open every Saturday from 7am to 1pm at Central Station Pavilion through November. Each week, you can enjoy food trucks, live music, fresh produce and locally made products. Click here to view specials events happening each week.
A second weekly farmer's market will take place at Court Square Park!
Memphis Farmers Market Squared will happen Wednesday's from 4 to 7 pm in the heart of downtown Memphis. You can find some of the same vendors and produce you'll see on Saturday. Now you'll always have an option to get farm-fresh food!
Superlo On the Go
Although there are easy and afforable options to buy groceries, food delivey is now another option for downtowners.
Your busy schedule makes it nearly impossible to go to the store and pick up groceries that you need on a regular basis. This is exactly why businesses have started using delivery methods to make things easier on their customers. Superlo Foods has opened a Superlo On-The-Go in South Main for this very reason!
Superlo On-The-Go allows you to place an order of items you would liked to be sent to the Downtown location to be picked up.
Click here to visit Superlo's website and shop online for their pick-up services. Ther pick up location in South Main is located at 552 S. Main Street. The hours are Monday through Friday from 3pm-8pm and Sat through Sun from 1pm-6pm.
