Getting into and around Downtown Memphis is a breeze, thanks to the Memphis Area Transit Authority's (MATA) downtown trolleys and bus system, AMTRAK's daily train service, efficient airport transit, and more than 46,000 parking spaces.
Trolley System
The Main Street & Riverfront Trolley Line can take you just about anywhere you'd want to go in Downtown. Over 1 million riders each year use trolleys which make a five-mile loop along Main Street and the Mississippi River, and connects the Downtown Core to the Memphis Medical Center.
Transit
The Memphis Area Transit Authority (MATA) operates two bus transfer and park & ride facilities in Downtown Memphis, located at the northern and southern ends of Main Street.
AMTRAK runs its passenger service through Central Station Downtown, offering daily transportation north to Chicago and south to New Orleans. Other providers offer taxi and carriage service, riverboat and train travel, and other modes of transportation to transport you into and around Downtown.
Taxis are readily available to pick up passengers in Downtown. Service response time to passenger pickup is about 6 minutes in the Downtown Core, and approximately 19 minutes to Mud Island.

From most anywhere in the metro Memphis area, Downtown is less than a 30 minute car ride.

Downtown is directly accessible from Interstates 40 and 55 as well as several US Highways.
