EXPERIENCE DOWNTOWN

family fun

Kids love exploring Downtown Memphis, and a fun family trip to Downtown doesn't have to cost a lot of money! Hop a trolley for a buck, stroll the riverwalk at Mud Island River Park, pack a picnic and head to the river, enjoy a free music show on Beale, or shop the Memphis Farmers Market on Saturday mornings.

But don't take it from us! Hear from our local experts on what kids like to do and see in Downtown Memphis!

"One of my favorite places downtown is Mud Island. I love to take my shoes off, and play in the River Walk. The fountain is really cool, and the museum is awesome! It's called Mud Island, because the Mississippi River is muddy."
Tanner Hendrix, age 7

Charlotte Mobley and her friend Ireland (both 6) LOVE to go to the Redbirds games and picnic on the grass with a frozen lemonade! And sometimes she and her friend Tanja just use their Blackberries and pay no attention at all to the game.

Charlotte also likes to walk on the River Bluff Walk in South Bluffs and across the pedestrian bridge to Tom Lee Park because she feels like she is very high up. And she and also plays in the water fountains at Civic Center!

"I had fun with my Nana and Papa on the riverboat and taking a carriage ride with the horses. I love the ribs at the RendezVous. It's a restaurant that's underground. Wayne's Candy is the coolest store in Memphis."

"I like to try on the funny hats at A. Schwabs and see the world's largest overalls. We always go to The Peanut Shoppe to get snacks. Elliot's has the best burgers in town."
