Is Downtown safe?
According to the Memphis Police Department, Downtown Memphis is in the safest precinct in the city! Because of the number of people that are in Downtown, MPD has a large patrol and several cameras placed throughout Downtown, as well as a special Bike Patrol and Entertainment District Unit. The Downtown Memphis Commission also has a private security team to assist the efforts of the MPD.
Where do I park?
There are more than 40,000 parking spaces in garages and lots in Downtown Memphis. On-street metered parking is also available throughout Downtown and metered parking is free after 5 pm and on weekends. So while parking is abundant, it's not always easy to find if you don't know where to look.

What is the Blue Suede Brigade?
You've probably seen them in their white pith helmets, bright blue shirts and blue suede shoes! The Blue Suede Brigade is the on-street hospitality arm of the Downtown Memphis Commission that welcomes visitors. Brigadiers patrol the streets of Downtown 7 days a week offering guidance on what to do and see, and how to get around in Downtown. The Blue Suede Brigade also serves as the eyes and ears to the Memphis Police Department. You can ask them anything! (Just don't step on their shoes.)
