Kids

What's a kid gotta do to have a little fun in Downtown? Boy oh boy do we have a list of fun stuff to do!

Trolley Ride. Hop a Riverfront Trolley that will take you through the heart of Downtown and past the river. To make the full circle, it will take you about 30 minutes. Trolleys are $1 per person or 50-cents during lunch.

Fire Museum of Memphis. Ring-a-ding-ding! This is one of Memphis' "hottest" attractions. The museum sits in a real turn-of-the-century fire house and has interactive activities that allow kids to fight fires, plan fire escape routes, and feel the heat of a fire. Fire Museum of Memphis

Memphis Redbirds and AutoZone Park. AutoZone Park is an award-winning AAA baseball park designed in the style of Camden Yards. It's the best place in the country to watch AAA-baseball! And for $5, you can sit on the bluff to watch the game (plus it's REALLY fun to roll down on the bluff). The Park is usually open if you want to take a tour, and it's a great place for birthday parties! Memphis Redbirds.

Petey's Playground at AutoZone Park. A really cool playground inside AutoZone with all kinds of neat playground equipment. Open year-round - enter through AutoZone Park Plaza.

Mud Island River Park. There's soooo much to do at Mud Island River Park! First, board the Monorail on Front Street which takes you over the Mississippi River to Mud Island, or if you want a little exercise, walk over to the park on the walkway over the River. Either way you get a great view of Downtown. You'll want to take a tour of the River Museum, and definitely take off your shoes and walk the Riverwalk, which is an exact replica of the Mississippi River from it's start up north to New Orleans. Mud Island also had paddle boats and great picnic areas too. Mud Island River Park

Mud Island Adventure Center. Not only does Mud Island offer bike rentals, you can also rent kayaks and canoes to paddle around in the Wolf River Harbor!Adventure Center

Mud Island Family Events. Mud Island offers really cool events for kids, including the monthly camping excursion "Sleep Out on the River". Mud Island Events

The Peanut Shoppe. This cute little shop has been around since 1949 selling all kinds of treats! And it's one of the best smelling places in Downtown. Mr. Riddah, the store owner, is also one of the nicest guys around. The Peanut Shoppe

The Peabody Ducks. The ducks at The Peabody Hotel march down from their penthouse mansion on the roof, take the elevator to the lobby, and walk the red carpet to the fountain where they swim everyday! The ducks march every day at 11 am and 5 pm. Peabody Ducks

High Tea at The Peabody. For those sophisticated kids with exquisite taste, or if you're a fan of "Eloise", High Tea at The Peabody is an absolute must! Tea is served in the elegant Chez Philippe from 2 - 3:30 pm on Wednesdays through Saturdays. High Tea at The Peabody

Beale Street. OK, so Beale Street isn't probably the best place for kids to be at night, but it's awesome for kids during the day!

  • Free music at Handy Park almost every day, as well as musicians performing along Beale Street.
  • Check out A Schwab's General Store where you can find all kinds of weird stuff like the world's largest pair of overalls, a crazy selection of hats, candy, and voodoo stuff.
  • Go feed the goats at Silky O'Sullivans. Yes, goats.
  • Watch the world-famous Beale Street Flippers do their thing.
