The Peabody Named Among "South's Best" by Southern Living

March 15th, 2017

The Peabody was named #2 in the South's Top Hotels and the #1 Hotel in Tennessee for 2017!

The honor as one of the “South’s Best” by Southern Living magazine bests hotels like Jekyll Island Club Hotel in Georgia, Watercolor Inn & Resort in Florida, The Roosevelt in New Orleans and The Hermitage Hotel in Nashville. The Biltmore in North Carolina was the only hotel to finish above The Peabody.

As well as being #2 in the South, The Peabody was named the #1 Hotel in Tennessee!

Southern Living’s list celebrates the “spectacular sights, inspiring destinations, and cultural institutions that define the South in 2017.” To create the first-ever “South’s Best” listSouthern Living surveyed more than 22,000 readers on the best-loved places in 13 categories: bars, breweries, cities, hotels, inns, islands, museums, resorts, restaurants, shops, small towns, tailgates and barbecue joints.

Known as the “South’s Grand Hotel,” The Peabody is famous for its charm, elegance, generous hospitality, and the five resident Mallard ducks who march daily through the Grand Lobby at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. The luxurious downtown hotel opened in 1869 and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
