It's the week we celebrate the King of Rock of Roll! If you have Graceland on your radar, make sure to add these Downtown events during Elvis Week.
Strike a Pose at the Elvis Statue on Beale
One of the best landmarks in Downtown, the Elvis statue makes for the perfect photo-op! Head over to Beale Street to Elvis Plaza to get your pic made with a larger-than-life statue of The King.
(Maybe take a picture in some Elvis sunglass and shirt from Lansky Bros.!)
Visit Sun Studio
Sun Studio has been named the second best music attraction in the country in a USA Today poll (you guessed it - Graceland was number one!). Not only is this one of the most famous recording studios in the world, it's also where Elvis recorded his first song and began building his legacy. Elvis used to hang out here as a kid hoping for a chance to be recorded. Today you can take a tour ot the studio where legends like Bob Dylan have been known to kiss the floor of this hallowed studio.
Eat at the Arcade, an Elvis favorite
At one time, Elvis was a regular at this restaurant. You can sit in his favorite booth - now named the Elvis Booth - and order a Fried Peanut Butter 'N' Banana sandwich, one of Elvis' favorites! Or try the ever popular sweet potato pancakes.
The Arcade (540 S Main Street) serves breakfast all day, offers a wide range of daily menus, delicious pizzas, lunch and drink specials. Make plans, it will be crowded!
See Elvis performances at "Images of the King" at New Daisy Theatre
Thirty years ago Edward “Doc” and Jackie Franklin started Images of the King (originally Images of Elvis) as a way to honor the legacy of their friend. Thirty years later, the tradition of a full Elvis Week of entertainment continues at the New Daisy Theatre! The event runs from August 11-19th.
See six Ultimate Elvis Tribute artists and no fewer than eight Images of the King World Champions. There will be traditional shows which celebrate Elvis’ music throughout the eras and non-traditional shows that allow the audience a closer look at the fabulous entertainers the ETAs are in their own right. Plus the Blackwood Quartet in “The Gospel Side of Elvis.” See the list of headliners here.
At the end of the week will be a special concert to raise funds for St. Jude Reseach Hospital.
"Over the past two years we’ve contributed over $30,000 and would like to match that amount this year with another $30,000. To make the event even more special, we are holding this year’s event as a memorial for a Carolyn Quinn Nichols. Carolyn was a beloved member of our Elvis family who passed away this year. Please show your support for the music and a cause close to Carolyn’s heart." -Images of the King representatives

Shop at Lansky Bros. Clothier for the King
In 1952, Bernard Lansky noticed a young man looking in his Beale Street clothing store window, welcomed him in, and showed him around. That young man was Elvis Presley, and before he was known as the King of Rock-n-Roll, he was a loyal customer to Lansky Brothers. As Mr. Lansky helped Elvis create his well-known and sought-after style, Bernard gained the title Clothier to the King.
You can still buy vintage-style, Elvis-inspired clothing at this store on the corner of Beale and Second! Learn more
Celebrate Elvis in Chisca, the building he first hit the radio

Lauderdale Courts: Elvis' Teenage Home
Elvis Presley and his parents lived in 185 Winchester, #328 at Lauderdale Courts from eptember 1949 to January 1953 . The Courts proved to be a pivotal place for Elvis. For it was from here that a shy Elvis would practice his guitar in the basement laundry room and would also meet and play with other musicians who lived in The Courts. Elvis would walk to nearby Beale Street and gain inspiration from blues artists. You could find him listening to records at Pop Tunes around the corner. Sun Studios was over a mile away. It was here in this close knit community that Elvis met girlfriends, went to Humes School and developed as a performer.
