If you're looking for places to cool off during this hot summer, you can find all you need in downtown!

Home to ice cream parlors, bars, water fountains and hot summer days, Downtown Memphis has a cool-down solution for everyone.

Treat yourself at one of Downtown's many ice cream parlors

Rollin' Sweets (26 S. Second St ) is the perfect place to start our list.

In the heart of Downtown, the newly opened parlor serves a variety of refreshing items, including rolled ice cream and milkshakes. If you are looking for a place to cool off AND have a new experience, don't miss Rollin' Sweets!

The Arcade Restaraunt (540 N. Main Street) serves up one of the best milkshakes in Memphis. Make sure to ask for lots of whipped cream and a cherry on top.

Looking for something on Beale? A. Schwab serves up a cold classic favorite, and Beale Sweets Sugar Shack is fast becoming a local favorite.

If you're in the South Main district, you have to try a crepe from Scoops Parlor (106 GE Patterson Avenue).

They pride themselves on having fresh ingredients with a variety of toppings and flavors. We love the crepe topped with a scoop of homemade gelato. Stop by and snap a photo of your cool-down scoop, and don't forget to use their hashtag #scooped!

Margie's 901 Ice Cream (125 S. Main) on Main Street is the perfect stop for a cold treat. They've been serving ice cream, as well as other cold treats, for around 20 years. The inventors of the Ice Cream Cup Cake and Ice Cream Pizza have mastered the art of cool-down conconctions!

Margies 901 Ice Cream

You know the Peabody Hotel for the history, the ducks, the rooftop and dining...but you might want to know them for the desserts too. The Peabody Deli & Desserts (149 Union Avenue) offers up some delicious treats and monthly ice cream flavors. Did we mention the deli and dessert shop was inside the Peabody? Ducks. Cold air-conditioning. Amazing lobby bar. You get it.

With fresh local cherries and chunks of cheesecake swirled with a graham cracker crust, July's flavor of the month is sure to delight your tastebuds and cool you off on those hot summer days.

July Ice Cream

Gather the crew and go big at Kooky Canuck (87 S. Second St.). Try and take down the "Birthday Avalanche" with 18 scoops of ice cream, toppings, party favours, and a photo. Tackling a mountain has never been so much fun!

Play in the Fountain in the Civic Center

The Fountain in the Civic Center is one of the most popular spots in Downtown Memphis.

Especially on the hot days, there is no better feeling than the rush of cold water from a fountain. The fountain is almost always crowded with kids of all ages, making it the perfect to sit, relax and cool off!

Kids' Play Area and Waterpark at Beale Street Landing

Island Play at Beale Street Landing, is a truly unique play area for kids on the river. A misting park, is a big hit for families looking to cool off in warmer weather. Rolling hills, dancing water fountains, a stone slide and a giant catfish sculpture will have your kids saying, “Take Me to the River!”

Open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Island Play’s water features are functional from April thru October.

Mississippi River Park

The Mississippi River Park on Mud Island is another incredible place for kids of all ages.

Take the kids on history walk through the park's model of the Mississippi River, complete with rushing cool water. The river-walk ends in a model of the gulf, with paddle boats for rent and a snack station. This is a perfect staycation choice for families.

Go to The Front Porch at Sunset

The Front Porch at Beale Street Landing has a lovely view of the river and a nice shaded porch area. Sit in one of their signature red porch chairs and drink a nice cold iced tea or order adult beverages at the bar.

This pop-up restaurant may not last forever, so make plans soon to enjoy Downtown's coolest front porch.

It just keeps rolling along ...
