About the event: The Ethiopian coffee ceremony is an important cultural ritual that honors the birth of the coffee plant and celebrates Ethiopia as its homeland. Guests will witness the preparation of and participate in the consumption of the coffee throughout the ceremony, as the ritual provokes insightful thought and a deeper cultural understanding of the coffee plant. Art Village Gallery
Art Village Gallery started as a small art studio space in a back room at 333 Beale St in Memphis Tenn. Right after graduating from Art school, I was in a desperate need for a studio space to work, a space that I shared with two other resident artists who later move out leaving me with a large enough space to display my works. Thus was born Art Village gallery. The year was 1990.
The need for a Village Style gallery was to fulfill one of my childhood dreams, which is to create a community of artist working and playing together just like it was in my village growing up as a young boy in Nigeria. Today the gallery represents artist from Columbia, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Thailand, Zimbabwe and Namibia to mention a few.
Our mission is simply to connect the Mid -South with exotic works of art from talented but unknown artist living in developing countries.
