The Pyramid has long been one of the most iconic buildings in Downtown Memphis. Abandoned in 2004 and reborn as a Bass Pro Shop megatore in 2015, it is now one of the most traveled places in Memphis. Don't let the vastness of the Pyramid overwhelm you, we've created a guide to show you what there is to do inside!
Walking in the Bass Pro Shops Mega Store
As you walk in through the wooden-clad threshold, you are imediately greeted by the incredible space. You can't help but look up and stare at the amazing swamp land they have created to run throughout the main floor of the Pyramid. (Yes, amazing swamp land may seem like an oxymoron, but go with us.) The main floor is broken down into retail sectors: apparel, boating, ATVs, and toys, among other products. As you walk through the path you come to Uncle Buck's Fishbowl & Grill.
Uncle Buck's Fishbowl & Grill
Uncle Buck's is a great option for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The place has the perfect atmosphere for the whole family to enjoy. There are plenty of incredible menu items to choose from: pizza, fish, burgers, etc. The Fish and Chips are an Uncle Buck's signature item (pictured below). In the middle of the dining room sits a beautiful aquarium giving you the feeling of being under water.
Retail Therapy Options
There is a large fishing section filled with rows upon rows of fishing poles. The staff stands ready to help you with any of your needs and seems to know the product and store well. And there are plenty of products to choose from!
The men's and women's apparel shops are stacked with everything from t-shirts to name-brand clothing, along with a sunglasses shop stocking brands such as Ray-Ban and Maui Jim.
The General Store, located inside the apparel sector, is defintely worth a stop. Serving home-made fudge, candy and home cooking options, this is the place to be if a full meal isn't what you are craving.
If you make your way to the second level, you'll find more retail space and both a gun and archery range.
The TALLEST free-standing elevator in the US!
When you go to the Pyramid, you must take a ride in the elevator to The Lookout. The elevator ride will cost $10 per person, but the resulting view is incredible! The Lookout also offers a full-service restaurant with a more sophisticated menu than Unlce Buck's. And the option to take your drink outside for another incredible view of Downtown and the Mississippi Riverfront.
Big Cypress Lodge
Big Cypress Lodge is one of the main attractions of the Bass Pro Pyramid. It is a 100-room hotel located on the second and third floor of the Pyramid. There are multiple lodging options, including individual cabin-style accommodations, single hotel rooms and the Big Cypress Lodge itself. The latter is meant for the whole family to stay in, it can sleep 8 and has a full kitchen, among other amenities. The third floor also has a common space to lookout at the main floor and relax with a drink.
The Big Cypress Spa also offers spa treatments to all guests or customers."Relax in the essence of the outdoors" is their motto. And with a variety of different spa treatments, and great customer service, the Big Cypress Spa lives up to that.
